Announcement Date Restriction Default Setting Changed
When creating an Announcement, "Not Date Restricted" is now selected by default. Instructors are no longer automatically prompted to set "Display After" and/or "Display Until" dates for the Announcement Duration
HTML5 Support for Video and Audio
HTML5 Video and Audio is now supported in the Content Editor for audio and video playback in all browsers, including Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
YouTube Mashup Tool Functionality Restored
Instructors and students can once again use the YouTube Mashup tool to search for and embed YouTube videos within Blackboard content. Previously, users received an error message when attempting to use this tool due to changes Google made to the way YouTube functions within browsers. Users will no longer see this error message when using the Mashup tool.
Thread-to-Thread Navigation in Discussion Boards
Instructors and students can now navigate directly to the next or previous thread in a discussion from the Thread Detail page without having to navigate back up to the main discussion forum page.
Microsoft Edge Browser Support
The new Microsoft Edge browser which replaces Internet Explorer in Windows 10 is now fully supported.
Email Message Headers Contain Sender's Full Name
Email messages sent from within Blackboard now include the sender's full name in the From: header.
The Forum descriptions added by instructors are now also visible on the Create Threads page to improve accessibility for those using screen readers.
Hot Spot Questions in Tests/Quizzes:
An "Image Alternate Text" box is now available when creating a Hot Spot question in tests or quizzes. Instructors can provide an alternative text description of the image in the question for improved accessibility for users who don't see the image.
Special Characters in Uploaded File Names
Special characters in file names (i.e. / \ : ? * < >, etc.) for files uploaded to Blackboard are now replaced with the underscore ( _ ) character.
