Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification

MOS Certification program at NDSU is provided in collaboration between Student Government and the Division of IT and provides students and employees an opportunity to obtain official Microsoft Office Specialist certifications, at no cost.

Step 1: Register

Visit the TLMC (in QBB 150C) to register for your GMetrix practice account and your Certiport Exam account.

Step 2: Practice

Access to GMetrix practice software is your best method to prepare for certification. You will be able to take practice exams in an environment that replicates the official exams. GMetrix software is available at TLMC or you can install it on your own computer. Your practice exams are recorded by GMetrix and passing a practice exam is required prior to registering for an official exam.

Step 3: Certify

Proctored exams will be offered by the TLMC periodically throughout the semester. Visit the TLMC website to view the exam schedule and to register for an upcoming exam.

***Please note: Exam vouchers are limited. Before you are permitted to register for an exam, and use a voucher, you must successfully pass at least one multi-project test in GMetrix for the certification level you are testing on. GMetrix activity is can be monitored by IT staff to insure you are prepared to pass your certification exam.

Levels of certification

Earn your specialist certification by testing within individual Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.

Advanced level exams in Microsoft Word and Excel are also available. Passing these exams will earn you your expert certification.

To acquire your MS Office Master certificate you must pass the advanced level exam for both Word and Excel along with PowerPoint and either Access or Outlook.
