Web and Social Media Specialist

Starting Wage:  $10.35/hour
Reports to:  IT Communications Coordinator

The Web and Social Media Specialist will assist with conceptual development and design in support of communication and marketing plans, events and activities of the Information Technology Division. This position will have a particular focus on graphic design, but will provide support for other communication efforts, as well. 

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with development and design for creative materials
  • Assist with creating unique and engaging content on Information Technology Division websites and social media sites
  • Assist with writing and editing various internal and external messages and reports
  • Assist in planning and implementation of marketing, educational and public relations efforts and events, including student orientation and resource fairs
  • Deal with sensitive situations and information in a confidential manner

 Minimum Qualifications for Employment:

  • Current student enrolled at NDSU
  • Sophomore standing or higher
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Exceptional skills in print and digital design
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications for Employment:

  • Competence in journalistic writing, particularly Associated Press Style
  • Training or experience writing for the Web
  • Experience using a Web content management system
  • Experience using social media to build a business-related or personal online brand identity
  • Interest in photography
