TLMC Microsoft Office Specialist

Hours Per Week
: 10-25
Starting Wage: $10.35/hour
Reports To: TLMC Manager

NOTE: This position could qualify as a graduate assistantship. To be hired as a graduate assistant, the following criteria must be met:
1) the student is a graduate student being paid via a stipend instead of hourly
2) the student must work the number of hours agreed upon and specified in the student's Graduate Contract form 
3) the student’s academic department must approve the work as being eligible for a tuition waiver

The MOS specialist will provide support for MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint projects and coursework. To qualify for this position, a student employee must be willing to work towards acquiring the Microsoft Master certification.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate regularly with the TLMC manager to coordinate efforts, activities, and schedules
  • Provide NDSU campus community members with one-on-one and small group assistance with projects and coursework that involve the use of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other TLMC-supported technology
  • Develop and conduct workshops on Microsoft software programs
  • As needed, support the MOS certification initiative by teaching emporiums and assisting with developing relevant documentation
  • Work towards acquiring the Microsoft Office Master certification
  • Assist with developing, reviewing, and editing tutorials and other documentation on Microsoft products and related topics
  • Review and recommend learning resources
  • Participate in meetings and/or committees where appropriate
  • Maintain a high level of professional competency
  • Adhere to STS work practices
  • Deal with sensitive situations and information in a confidential manner
  • Work safely 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current NDSU enrolled student
  • Sophomore standing or higher
  • Minimum GPA of 2.8
  • Demonstrate hands-on skills in Microsoft Office products: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Be willing to work toward the Microsoft Office 2016 Master certification
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
