Get Images


Note: For each piece of media (images, video, audio, etc.) that you obtain from the Internet, you should always identify and follow the terms of use. It is also good practice to document the source and location for all media that you download for your own use, even when attribution is not required.

  • Creative Commons: Creative Commons provides licensing options that are more flexible than traditional copyright. Owners of works can specify the conditions for using or re-purposing their works. Be sure to clarify and follow the terms specified by the owner of individual works.

    Use Creative Commons to search these sites for CC licensed works: Flickr, Fotopedia, Google Images, Open Clip Art Library, Wikimedia Commons, Pixabay.

  • Wikimedia Commons: Over 25,000,000 freely usable media files including photos, video and audio. 

  • Copyright-Free Photo Archive: (This site is a collection of links to Web sites with copyright-free images for your use. You must cite each image according to the rules of each site, so make sure to check for instructions.)

  • photos are free to use for non-commercial purposes. You must cite the Web site for each photo you use.

  • Public Domain Photos:
    All photos are free for public use unless clearly stated otherwise.

    All clip art is free for academic use, but you must cite if you choose to use a picture.
