Wimba -- a tool that allows users to connect via audio, video or text -- is coming to NDSU, and it promises to change the way we teach, collaborate and connect across campus and across the world. This fall and winter has been a great adventure blazing the trail learning about Wimba Live Classroom -- a Web conferencing tool that transforms the computer into an engaging learning tool and a powerful tool for online collaboration. Wimba allows users to connect their computers directly or from within Blackboard. Applications for this new technology include distance education, advising, office hours, campus meetings and project collaboration. Unlike the IVN system which requires a dedicated videoconferencing room, with the proper devices Wimba can be used in computer clusters, offices and meeting spaces anywhere. Wimba Live Classroom focuses attention on the content and the speaker, not on the technology! We'll demonstrate this technology, which blends audio/video/content into an interactive medium for you and your students or meeting participants. Be ready to come explore with us as we demonstrate more of this interactive technology and incorporate instructional best practices! If you cannot attend this LunchBytes session you can send e-mail to Instructional Services at ITS for more information on Wimba. Information is also available on the North Dakota Interactive Video Network Web site. Live Classroom Presentation Slides (PDF Format) Voice Tools Presentation Slides (PDF Format) |
