The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry is hosting a seminar by Dr. William A. Cramer, distinguished professor of biology at Purdue University. He'll speak about membrane proteins, including beta-barrel proteins found in the outer membranes of Gram-negative bacteria. These proteins influence uptake of metals, sugars, and nutrients and are parasitized by phages and cytotoxic colicins. "The title of his talk is: "Structure-Function of Two Membrane Proteins: Helical and Beta-Barrel." This seminar is scheduled for Thursday, April 3 at 4pm in Ladd 107.
