Cucullia convexipennis Grote & Robinson 1868
| Common name: Brown hooded-owlet.
Hodges #: 10202. Identification: Rfw 18.8 mm, fw wood brown, with longitudinal streak along cubital vein and extending to outer margin; tegula with an elongate scale tuft which is everted at rest forming a ‘cowl.’ See Cucullia key. Similar species: 10190, 10194, 10197, 10198, 10200, and 10201. Distribution: temperate eastern U. S. and southern Canada, west to Saskatchewan in the north. Hosts: Aster– Asters and Solidago– goldenrods, larvae in later instars feed on flowers.
