Pseudaletia unipuncta (Haworth 1809)

Common name: Armyworm moth.

Hodges #: 10438.

Identification: Rfw 19 mm, fw brown with dull luster, occasionally coppery, a white spot present at lower angle of reniform spot, a dark shade-line from pointed apex of fw, hw with pink/violet reflectance in strong light, tibiae without setae, eyes hairy.

Similar species: 9373, 9457, 10436, 10447, 10449, 10462, 10801, 10915.

Distribution: northern South America, north into Canada with annual emigrations, does not overwinter north of freeze-line.

Hosts: larvae are general feeders on a huge variety of plants.
