Euxoa miames (Smith 1903)

listed here as 'Miames dart.'
Hodges #: 10861 in part, listed here as 10861.1. Identification: Rfw <14. mm, R and Cu stems outlined in white scales; pale streaks from CuA2, CuA1 and M3; hws fuscous, paler basad in %%. Male antennae weakly bifasciculate. Thoracic vestiture usually dark gray to blackish. Very similar to E. ridingsiana. Note generic characters of Euxoa, male with short sacculus extension; harpe along inner face of valve, not projecting above as in most similar species.. Similar species: 10702, 10756,10804, 10805, 10831, 10834, 10836, 10861, 10862, 10864, 10951 and 11047. Distribution: western North American from northwestern Canada southward into northern Rocky Mountain states and onto the western Great Plains. An apparently disjunct population occurs at higher elevations in the central and southern Rockies (Lafontaine 1987).. Hosts: Larval hosts are unknown. |
