Schinia arcigera (Guenée 1852)

Common name: listed here as ‘Arc-lined flower moth.’

Hodges #: 11128.

Identification: Rfw 11.1 mm, fw am. line evenly curved, pm line nearly straight; hws of male orange– discal spot small or absent, of female black; massive inner ‘claw’ and three enlarged outer ‘claws.’ on foretibia.

Similar species: 11110, 11117, 11132, and 11135.

Distribution: southern Canada and United States except Great Basin and Pacific coast.

Hosts: Larvae reported from Aster laevis Linnaeus– Smooth blue aster and A. puniceus Linnaeus– Swamp aster.
