Manduca quinquemaculatus (Haworth 1803)
| Common name: Five spotted hawkmoth/ Tomato hornworm
Hodges #: 7776. Identification: Rfw 49.5 mm, fw shades of gray, white subterminal line even in course, only Manduca in ND in which fw fringe does not have well defined white spots, hw with dark lines separated by light ground color, abdomen with yellow lateral spots. Distribution: Mexico, United States, and southern Canada. Hosts: Plants of the tomato family (Solanaceae). Note: This species is a regular summer visitor and does not
overwinter in ND. |
