Smerinthus cerisyi Kirby 1837

Common name: Cerisy's sphinx/ One-eyed sphinx.

Hodges #: 7822.

Identification: Rfw 34.2 mm.  Hw costal margin evenly convex, ocellatus consisting of a blue ring in a black field, pink of discal area and tan outer margin colors blend.

Similar species: 7821, 7824, 7828, 7829.

Distribution: western U.S. and southern Canada, eastward in the north to the Atlantic.

Hosts: Larvae feed on Salix sp.-- willow and Populus sp.-- poplar and aspen.
