Peridea ferruginea (Packard 1864)

Common name: Chocolate prominent

Hodges #: 7921.

Identification: Rfw 20.4 mm, rufous brown in basal and p.m. areas, scale tuft at mid point long inner margin. Eyes without hair, palpi reaching only 1/2 height of eye, male antennae fasciculate. 

Similar species: 7919, 7920, 7926, 10266. 

Distribution: southern Canada and northern United States, southward in mts. to SC in the east and CO in the west.

Hosts: Larval feed on  Birch- Betula.
