Furcula occidentalis (Lintner 1878)

Common name: Listed here as 'Western kitten'

Hodges #: 7939

Identification: Rfw 15.9 mm, groundcolor dull whitish overlaid with gray scales imparting a dusky appearance, occasional moths have groundcolor whitish.  Fw with only a few scattered yellow scales. Note large black terminal dots on both wings.  Disc of thorax not contrasting with ptagiae and head.  Proboscis absent, palpi very short, eyes without hair, metatibiae with a single pair of spurs. 

Similar species: 7931, 7933, 7935, 7937, 7940, 7941, 7673.

Distribution: southern Canada and northern United States, southward in the Great Plains to Texas.

Hosts: Larval feed on Willows- Salix spp.
