Arctiidae: Arctiinae: Arctiini


Grammia celia (Saunders 1863)

Common name: Listed here as 'Celia's tiger moth.'

Hodges #: 8187 as Apantesis celia (Saunders).

Identification: Rfw 15.9 mm, fw transverse lines not extending below fold; hw yellow-orange, heavily infuscated, pro-tibia white dorsally.  In direct comparison, larger and 'stouter' than 8186.

Similar species: 8179, 8182, 8185, 8186, 8193.

Distribution: Canada, northern United States, southward in Rockies to Colorado.

Hosts:  Larvae have been reared on Plantago-- plantain.
