Exaeretia gracilis (Walsingham 1889)

Common name: listed here as ‘Ambrosia seed moth.’

Hodges #: 902 under Depressariodes.

Identification: Rfw 7.95 mm, fw with Rs4 terminating at apex, stalked as Rs3+4, CuA 1+2 stalked, proboscis scaled at base, basal area of fw brown.

Similar species: 1515, 3684, 3693.

Distribution: central and western U. S.

Hosts: larvae are seed borers in Ambrosia psilostachya D. C.– Western ragweed and Helianthus annuus L.– Sunflower.
