We are now less than one week away from the Great Solar Eclipse of 2017. Next Monday, August 21, the moon will cover the sun in a narrow corridor from Oregon to South Carolina. This is the first eclipse to go from coast to coast in the United States since 1918, almost exactly 100 years ago. The eclipse next Monday will also be the first total eclipse anywhere in the lower 48 states since 1979. That eclipse did move through northwestern North Dakota. I remember that event as I was in high schooled and I vowed I would see the next one which I discovered would not be for another 38 years. If all goes well, I will be in Nebraska next week fulfilling that wish.
