With the warmer temperatures the past few days the soil temperatures have finally warm up to around 50 or higher. Of course the near surface soil temperatures get even higher than that during the afternoon hours, but the daily average is the most important temperature to keep an eye on. That daily average has been at or above 50 degrees at most NDAWN stations for this past week. One the weekend storm moves out, the cooler air may drop the soil temperatures a bit, but over all, the soil temperatures should stay at or above 50 degrees now for the rest of the season. Fields under no-till will generally be several degrees cooler on most situations.
