NDSU pharmacy seminar reviews public health essentials

A one-day NDSU pharmacy seminar, themed “Public Health Essentials for the Pharmacist,” attracted more than 40 participants from North Dakota, Minnesota, South Dakota, Montana and Illinois on Oct. 11 in Fargo.

Participants were able to earn up to .80 continuing education units, with the option of applying them toward a public health certificate.

The 2013 presentations and presenters included:

·      “Emergency Preparedness and Response” - Carol L. Cwiak, assistant professor of emergency management

·      “Cultural Perspectives in Providing Public Health” - David Scott, professor of pharmacy practice

·      “Community Engagement” - Mark Strand, associate professor of pharmacy practice

·      “Overview of Public Health and Public Health Systems in the United States” - Donald Warne – director of the NDSU Master of Public Health Program and associate professor of pharmacy practice
