Student Health Service names physician, clinical manager/registered nurse

NDSU Student Health Service has announced the hiring of a physician and clinical manager/registered nurse.

Dr. Fredric Black joined the staff May 12. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Indiana University Northwest and a Doctor of Osteopathy from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa. He completed his residency in family medicine at the University of Iowa.

Black is board certified in family medicine and has more than nine years of urgent care experience. He is completing a four-year active-duty tour with the North Dakota Air National Guard. He has been a flight surgeon in support of the “Happy Hooligans” remotely piloted aircraft mission with experience in travel and occupational medicine.

As chief of aerospace medicine, he has supervised professional staff, participated in credentialing, performed peer review and established clinic metrics used to guide quality improvement programs.

Theresa Wickenheiser began her duties as clinical manager and registered nurse on May 5. She earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of North Dakota and has been certified in ambulatory care nursing since 2005. She previously worked for Sanford Health System for more than 30 years in direct patient care and supervisory roles.
