NDSU’s annual United Way of Cass-Clay campaign officially kicked off Oct. 22. Unit coordinators are in the process of distributing campaign information, with online pledging ending Dec. 22.

NDSU’s 2014 United Way campaign goal is $118,320 – a 3 percent increase from last year’s campaign total. The United Way campaign theme is “Live United for Education.”

In a letter to university faculty and staff, President Dean L. Bresciani urged employees to participate in the campaign. “Please think of your gift as an investment with United Way of Cass-Clay,” he wrote. “You’ll help a child do better in school, slow the cycle of poverty and strengthen our community for generations to come. United Way of Cass-Clay is more than a charity. Together with their partners, they are changing the way they invest in our community.”

Again this year, United Way is emphasizing their education collaborative, which involves 25 non-profit agencies and three school districts with the focus on making a measurable difference in early childhood education, parent and guardian education, out-of-school time programming and family mental health.

Char Goodyear, assistant to the vice president for University Relations, is the campus campaign coordinator again this year. “By contributing to our ‘Live United for Education’ campaign, you’ll make a huge difference in our community,” she said. “I truly believe that strong support from the NDSU community is vital to a healthier and brighter future for the people of Cass and Clay Counties. Thank you in advance for your gift.”

The overall campaign goal for United Way of Cass-Clay is $5.5 million. Proceeds support 45 agencies with 68 programs, with 99 cents of each dollar staying in our community.
