SHARE

The works of seven area artists examine the varied interpretations of the label “trophy wife” in an exhibition at the Memorial Union Gallery through March 26.

In the display, artists Vicki Kessler, Sue Morrissey, Julie Richardson, Karen Perry Anderson, Julianne Overby, Clare Degerness and Donna Kjonaas use mixed media, ranging from a suit of armor to conceptual abstractions in fabric.

A reception featuring artist talks, refreshments and a participatory game of “Pin the Attributes on the Trophy Wife” is scheduled Tuesday, March 24, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. “An Afternoon in the Gallery,” a Women’s Week event featuring an introduction to the exhibition and other interdisciplinary presentations is scheduled on Tuesday, March 3, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the gallery.

"Trophy Wife" was originally exhibited as an artistic subset of the annual Fargo-Moorhead Visual Artists Constraint Show at the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County in October 2014.

The “Sing Our Rivers Red” exhibition also is on view through March 5.
