NDSU alumni award recipients announced

The NDSU Development Foundation and Alumni Association have announced the 2015 Alumni Awards recipients. They will be recognized at an awards banquet scheduled for 
Wednesday, May 6
, at 5:30 p.m. in the 
Fargodome. 

The Alumni Achievement Award honors alumni who have achieved exceptional distinction in their professional field. This year’s recipient is:

  • Tama Duffy Day, 
BS '80, interior design, a principal and Firmwide Health and Wellness Practice Area Leader for Gensler.

The Henry L. Bolley Academic Achievement Award recognizes alumni who have attained noted achievements in the area of education. This year’s recipients are:

  • Duane Champagne,
 BA '73, mathematics
, MA '75, sociology, professor of sociology and also professor in the School of Law at UCLA. He is co-chair in the Native Nations Law and Policy Research Center 
and supervises the Tribal Learning Community and Educational Exchange Program.
  • Rodger Johnson, BS '65, animal sciences, 
professor emeritus of animal science at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He previously was a faculty member at Oklahoma State University

The Horizon Award honors graduates of the past 15 years who have distinguished themselves in their profession/service to their community. This year’s recipients are:

  • Joanna Slominski, BS '
04, construction engineering, a construction executive with Mortenson Construction. She is the project executive for $494 million Sanford Fargo Medical Center, currently under construction.
  • Jake Joraanstad
, BS '12, computer science, and Ryan Raguse, 
BS '11, accounting, co-founders of Myriad Mobile. The company was established in 2011 and has grown to more than 50 full-time employees at offices in Fargo, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Denver, Kansas City, and Chicago.
