Student ambassadors from two NDSU colleges raised more than $4,100 for the one-year-old daughter of an NDSU senior lecturer.

Representatives from the College of Pharmacy, Nursing and Allied Sciences and the College of Engineering collected $4,193.93 during the fifth annual Battle of the Cents-es fundraising event, held Feb. 23-27.

The donations will be used to support Bryn Hamre, daughter of Kellie Hamre, senior lecturer of interior design. Bryn has undergone two open-heart surgeries and a third may be necessary when she is older.

The College of Engineering won the annual competition. Coins collected during the week counted toward the team’s totals and paper money was deducted from the team’s totals. The College of Engineering collected $640 in paper bills and $1,010.80 in coins for a point total of $370.80. The College of Pharmacy, Nursing and Allied Sciences collected $1,632 in paper bills and $742.47 in coins for a point total of minus $889.53.

An additional $168.66 was raised in the interior design department but didn’t count toward either college’s total.

All of the money collected was donated to the Hamre family.
