SHARE

NDSU student Matthew Pederson was recently awarded the Mid America CropLife Association Young Leader Scholarship. Pederson is a junior majoring in crop and weed sciences from Wheaton, Minnesota.

The scholarship program is “designed to expose future agriculturists to the crop protection industry and future career opportunities.” Candidates for the scholarship must be enrolled in an agriculture-focused program at one of the 13 land-grant universities and have secured a summer internship within agriculture, preferably in the crop protection industry. One scholarship is awarded per university.

Pederson will intern this summer at Riverview Dairy in Morris, Minnesota. His position is a production agriculture internship and he will work with forage crops used in dairies and feedlots. This fall, he will attend the Mid America CropLife Association annual meeting in Chicago, where he and the other scholarship recipients will speak about their internship experiences.
