Equine workshops set for April

SHARE

A series of workshops on horse-related issues has been scheduled in North Dakota during April.

Kenton Morgan, an equine technical service veterinarian for Zoetis, a global animal health company, is set to be the keynote speaker at the NDSU Extension Service-created Equine Encounter workshops. He will discuss spring equine vaccinations and deworming.

In addition, Mary Berg, livestock environmental management specialist at NDSU's Carrington Research Extension Center, will discuss special topics related to equine nutrient management. Kevin Sedivec, rangeland management specialist, will address horse pasture management and making the best of available pastures.

The dates and locations for the workshops are:

  • April 21 - Schollander Pavilion, Red River Valley Fairgrounds, West Fargo
  • April 22 - Morton County Courthouse, Mandan
  • April 23 - NDSU North Central Research Extension Center, Minot

All three workshops will begin with supper at 6 p.m.

Local Extension agents will discuss hay selection for horses at the West Fargo and Mandan workshops, and equine disease prevention and biosecurity measures at the Minot workshop.
