SHARE

The Mayors of Fargo, Moorhead, Dilworth and West Fargo joined NDSU President Dean L. Bresciani in observing national Stand Up 4 Transportation Day Thursday, April 9.

The four mayors visited campus to sign a proclamation recognizing the importance of transportation to the region. Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney, Moorhead Mayor Del Rae Williams, Dilworth Mayor Chad Olson and West Fargo Mayor Richard Mattern each commented on the importance of transportation to their respective communities and to the Fargo-Moorhead region as a whole. The event was held at the NDSU transit hub just south of the NDSU Memorial Union. Mahoney and Williams arrived for the event via Great Rides Bike Share bikes.

NDSU’s Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute provided local leadership in the national effort to promote awareness and knowledge of the importance of transportation as a vital link in our communities.

The institute cooperated with the City of Fargo, MATbus, Metro COG and Great Rides Bike Share. As part of the event, area residents and visitors were encouraged to post transportation-related selfies on social media that day using the hashtag #SU4TFM. Stand Up 4 Transportation Day was organized nationally by the American Public Transportation Association.
