Giving Tree accepting donations

The NDSU Giving Tree, a program sponsored by the Volunteer Network, is again accepting donations of items to assist people during the holiday season.

According to Angela Mathers, graduate assistant in Service Learning and Civic Engagement, the Volunteer Network is working with Multicultural Student Services, International Programs and the Equity and Diversity Center to focus on the needs of campus community members.

Mathers said a number of NDSU students are supporting families while simultaneously attending classes. “We would like to help them out by offering a little assistance with the upcoming holiday season. Therefore, this year's Giving Tree features ornaments containing information about what their children would like to get,” she said.

Until Dec. 15, NDSU faculty and staff are invited to stop at the Student Activities Office in Memorial Union 120, take an ornament, go shopping for that child and bring the unwrapped gift back to the office by Dec. 17.

Mathers asked that if you know of an NDSU student who is supporting a family and could benefit from the program, contact her to nominate the student. She said all information is confidential.
