NDSU to offer barley production and management workshops

The NDSU Institute of Barley and Malt Sciences, and county offices of the NDSU and Montana State University Extension Services have organized four “Barley Production and Management for Profit” workshops scheduled for January.

Workshops are scheduled for Dickinson on Monday, Jan. 12; Sidney, Mont., on Wednesday, Jan. 14; Minot on Thursday, Jan. 15; and Conrad, Mont., on Thursday, Jan. 22.

Anticipated topics include pricing and marketing information, agronomy updates, barley and malt quality, barley disease management, insurance updates, crop rotations, variety development updates, irrigation practices, production economics, insect problems in barley, and updates on organizations supporting barley research.

Speakers will include faculty and staff members from the NDSU Extension Service, NDSU, North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station, Montana State University, USDA, Montana State University Extension Service, Risk Management Agency and private companies.
