NDSU men's basketball senior student-athlete Chris Kading is among the nominees for the 2016 Allstate NABC Good Works Team, it was announced Dec. 2 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

The award shines a spotlight on a select group of student-athletes who have shown dedication to community service and altruism in their communities.

In its fourth year, the Allstate NABC Good Works Team recognizes players at all levels of college basketball who have made outstanding contributions in the areas of volunteerism and civic involvement. The final award recipients will be unveiled in February.

He helped organize the 2015 campus homecoming variety show that benefitted Wellspring for the World – a non-profit organization that provides clean drinking water in areas that need it. Kading has volunteered at the Roger Maris Cancer Center "61 for 61" Home Run/Walk each year in college, visited patients in the children's hospital at Sanford, read to children at The Goddard School in Fargo, talked to kids at an elementary school about how they should act day-to-day and volunteered at the physical therapy pool and gym at Sanford Hospital.

The De Pere, Wisconsin, native was inducted into the prestigious Blue Key Honor Society this fall, which recognizes students for balanced and all-around excellence on the criteria of scholarship, leadership, service, character and integrity.
