Open forums set for dean candidates

Open forums have been scheduled for candidates for dean of the College of Graduate and Interdisciplinary Studies.

Maria-Claudia Tomany, vice provost at St. Xavier University, Chicago, is scheduled to visit campus Feb. 18-19 for meetings and interviews. The open forum for Tomany is set for Friday, Feb. 19, at 9 a.m. in the Memorial Union Century Theater.

Raphel J. De Ayala, chair of the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, is scheduled to visit NDSU Feb. 24-25. The open forum for De Ayala is set for Thursday, Feb. 25, at 9 a.m. in the Memorial Union Century Theater.

Tomany is the academic leader and executive campus director of the university's planned Gilbert, Arizona, campus. Tomany previously was associate vice president for academic affairs and dean of graduate studies at Western State Colorado University, Gunnison, Colorado. Prior to that, Tomany was assistant vice president for undergraduate studies and international education at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Tomany's bachelor's degree was earned at the University of Bergan, Norway; and master's degree and doctorate in English and Scandinavian studies was earned at the University of Munich, Germany.

De Ayala has been at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln since 1998. Prior to that, De Ayala was vice chair of the Department of Measurement, Statistics and Evaluation at the University of Maryland at College Park.

De Ayala's bachelor's degree was earned at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, Connecticut and doctorate in quantitative methods was earned at the University of Texas, Austin. De Ayala also holds a certificate in management development from Harvard University.
