A photographic exhibit, titled “Women Behind the Plow,” is scheduled to be on display at the NDSU Main Library from March 14 to April 22. The traveling exhibit, which will be on the library's first floor, is sponsored by Tri-County Tourism Alliance.

The exhibit features photos and stories, and celebrates the contributions of Germans from Russia women on farms and in the rural communities of Emmons, Logan and McIntosh Counties in south central North Dakota.

On one framed panel, Rosina (Kemmet) Thurn is pictured tending a grain wagon as a wheat field is combined. Her son, Alvin, is on their first tractor, a 1943 Allis Chalmers Model C.

In another photograph, Frieda (Grenz) Stoller shovels a truckload of grain to an auger near her home in rural Hazelton, North Dakota, during the 1950s.

For more information or to schedule the exhibit, contact Carmen Rath-Wald, Logan County Extension office, at 701-743-2504 or carmen.rath-wald@ndsu.edu.
