Gerontology nursing conference set for April 8

The NDSU School of Nursing is sponsoring “Gerontology in Nursing,” a conference scheduled for Friday, April 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the NDSU Alumni Center.

Conference topics include Alzheimer’s disease and caring for vulnerable adults. The conference offers educational and networking opportunities for nurses, caregivers and others interested in enhancing the care of older patients.

Speakers for the event include:

·       Mary Jo Hannasch - Memory Care & Suites Coordinator, Garnette Gardens, Redwood Falls, Minnesota

·       Ali Wenger, Elder Rights Program Administrator, Bismarck, North Dakota

·       Kendra Binger - Alzheimer’s Association Minnesota-North Dakota, Fargo, North Dakota

There is a $50 registration fee for the conference and a $10 registration fee for students. Lunch will be provided.

“The conference provides nurses and caregivers the opportunity to share and learn more about these important topics for best practices in geriatric nursing to meet the goal of excellence in nursing care for older adults, who are an increasing population that we serve in our communities,” said Loretta Heuer, NDSU professor of nursing and conference organizer.
