NDSU seminar to discuss biology of Timber Rattlesnake

The NDSU Department of Biological Sciences is set to host a presentation by Steven J. Beaupré, professor and chair of biological science the the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. His seminar, “Integrative Biology of the Timber Rattlesnake (Crotalus horridus): Why are Snakes so Odd?” is scheduled Friday, April 29 at 3 p.m. in Van Es 101.

Beaupré joined the faculty of the University of Arkansas in 1995. He earned his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in biophysical ecology at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and his doctorate in ecology and evolutional biology from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.

His research focuses on the various mechanisms influencing the distribution and abundance of terrestrial vertebrate ectotherms, or animals dependent on external sources of body heat.

Beaupré is a member of the Society of Integrative and Comparative Biology, Herpetologist's League Society for the Study of Amphibians and Reptiles and the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists.
