Theresa Semmens, chief information security officer, was recently the focus of a feature story on the website of Silverbull, a technology-based recruitment company headquartered in Manchester, Connecticut.

The article, written by Reid DiRenzo, is titled “North Dakota State University CISO Discusses What Makes a Successful Leader.” In the story, Semmens describes the qualities needed to be an effective information technology manager in the cybersecurity field.

“Because of the shortage of talented and skilled information technology professionals and leaders, it is crucial to develop IT leaders and managers who will recognize talent and skills, while fostering career development and advancement,” Semmens said. “Hopefully, the article will guide those who are interested in leadership and management, and provide food for thought for those who are already leading and directing IT professionals.”

Semmens, who joined NDSU in 2003, is an active member of EDUCAUSE, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of higher education through information technology. In recent years, she has given numerous lectures and presentations on topics related to her industry.
