NDSU student-athletes set record for academic performance

NDSU student-athletes achieved record-breaking numbers in academic performance for the 2015-16 academic year. As a group, they combined for an outstanding 3.37 grade-point average in 2015-16.

“I couldn’t be more proud of our student-athletes’ accomplishments in the classroom this past year,” said Matt Larsen, NDSU director of athletics. “Their hard work and dedication signify the overall commitment to academics within Bison Athletics. These performances are a real credit to our student-athletes, coaches and academic staff.”

Other impressive statistics include:

• Ten of NDSU’s 14 teams set program records for semester GPA during the most recent school year.

• Six of NDSU’s 14 programs recorded a team GPA of 3.50 or better for the spring 2016 semester, led by volleyball at 3.645, women’s track and field at 3.644, women’s cross country at 3.63 and soccer at 3.60.

• A total of 68 student-athletes posted perfect 4.0 GPAs for the spring 2016 semester.

• Thirteen of the 14 programs have higher cumulative GPAs than they did five years ago.
