NDSU music faculty to judge contests

SHARE

Several NDSU Department of Music faculty members will adjudicate high school music contests throughout the region during March.

They include Sigurd Johnson, percussion; Matthew Patnode, saxophone; Jeremy Brekke, trumpet; Charlette Moe, soprano; Robert Jones, baritone; Kyle Mack, trombone; and Michael Thrasher, clarinet.

The faculty will judge large musical groups, such as band, jazz ensembles and choirs, as well as solo and small ensemble performances. They will provide ratings and critiques for the students.

According to Johnson, the faculty members collectively will listen to hundreds of students in North Dakota and Minnesota. He said many of the contests are regional events, with the top musicians moving to the state contests.
