The NDSU chapter of Delta Upsilon fraternity will conduct its 34th annual Teeter-a-Thon April 19-24.

Teeter-A-Thon will take place at the Delta Upsilon chapter house, located at 1258 12th St. N., with the event kicking off at noon on Sunday, April 19. Donations can be mailed to the chapter house at 1258 12th St. N., Fargo, ND 58102 or dropped off at the house throughout the week.

“Teeter-a-Thon is a great event for our fraternity,” said Drew Espeseth, chapter president of Delta Upsilon. “Not only does it give us a chance to build brotherhood, but we’re able to donate our time and money to a very worthy cause.”

Delta Upsilon donates the proceeds to Big Brothers Big Sisters, one of the largest mentoring programs in the United States. Last year’s successful event raised more than $3,000 for the local Big Brothers Big Sisters program at the Village Family Service Center.

The first Teeter-a-Thon was held in the spring of 1975 and lasted 100 consecutive hours. For the past 33 years, the men of Delta Upsilon have teetered day and night through all kinds of weather to make Teeter-a-Thon the longest running Greek philanthropy at NDSU.

This year, members of Delta Upsilon will teeter-totter for 131 consecutive hours. The men will be joined by members of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, who donate their share of the funds raised to the Court Appointed Special Advocate Association, an organization providing volunteers to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children.

“This event is one of the highlights of our year,” said Trevor Varilek, vice president of public relations for Delta Upsilon. “We have a good time during the week and ultimately we’re able to give back to the community.”
