Jeremy Straub, assistant professor of computer science has been asked to edit a special issue of the journal Machines on Cyber-Physical System Cybersecurity. The publication is produced by the Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute, known as MDPI.

“As automation and autonomy are incorporated in more and more cyber-physical systems, the protection of the command and control of this equipment becomes of paramount importance,” Straub commented. “A cybersecurity failure for machines that operate in the physical world can cause injury to bystanders and co-working humans, as well as significant property damage.”

The special issue will concentrate on all areas of cybersecurity of cyberphysical systems. He said research papers related to technology policy and law also will be considered.

Straub focuses his research on artificial and computational intelligence, aerospace applications of computer science, additive manufacturing and cybersecurity.

The deadline for submissions for the special issue is May 31, 2017.
