Five NDSU student-athletes were selected for the 2017 Academic All-Big 12 wrestling team, announced March 2 by the conference office.

The first team has 42 members, including NDSU’s Clay Ream, a 157-pound redshirt junior from Wentzville, Missouri; Mitch Friedman, a 149-pound redshirt junior from Oconto Falls, Wisconsin; and Cordell Eaton, a 197-pound redshirt freshman from Long Grove, Iowa.

NDSU 125-pound redshirt senior Josh Rodriguez from Guadalupe, California, and 184-pound redshirt freshman Tyler McNutt from Saint Joseph, Missouri, were named to the 20-member second team.

Ream, Friedman and McNutt are repeat selections.

First team members have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
