A team of NDSU College of Business students competed in the Western Regional Human Resources Games Case Competition and Career Summit in Tigard, Oregon, held March 30-31.

Teams of students wrote executive summaries and presented their solutions to a real-world human resources case study. NDSU’s team placed 16 out of 20 in the undergraduate student division. A separate graduate student division included 10 teams.

Students participated in networking events and heard presentations by the Portland Human Resource Management Association. The Society for Human Resource Management, the world’s largest human resources professional society, sponsored the event.

“We learned so much and expanded our professional network with students from the west side of the country,” said Emily Peterson, a senior management major and student president of NDSU’s Human Resource Association from Delano, Minnesota.

Other NDSU team members are management students Matthew Schirado, a senior from Bismarck, North Dakota; Nathaniel Knopik, a senior from Dickinson, North Dakota; Katelyn Selzler, a senior from Hurdsfield, North Dakota; and Trenton Schwehr, a senior from Bismarck, North Dakota.

Gate City Bank of Fargo and the Fargo-Moorhead Human Resources Association assisted the team with travel costs.
