The NDSU Extension Service's Horizons program is co-sponsoring a workshop in Bismarck, N.D., on May 27 to help people learn more about the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, also known as the Stimulus Act.

"The workshop will help attendees discover how the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act can assist communities with development and certain projects," says Lynette Flage, Horizons’ project director.

The workshop will run from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with check-in at 9:30 a.m. at the Best Western Ramkota Hotel. The event is free.

Speakers will include Richard Rathge, director of the North Dakota State Data Center, and several representatives from the North Dakota Department of Commerce. The Department of Commerce representatives will discuss Department of Energy programs, the Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-housing Program, community services and community development block grants, and work force programs and solutions.

Lunch will include a roundtable discussion where participants can share ideas on ways to develop and expand their communities. Attendees also will hear from Shane Goettle, commissioner of the Department of Commerce.

To register, contact Sandy Erickson at (701) 328-9718 or sandra.k.erickson@ndsu.edu. The deadline to register is May 22.
