The presentation, titled “A Battle for our Communities,” is scheduled for Monday, May 8, at 1:30 p.m. in room 114 of Renaissance Hall, 650 NP Ave., Fargo

Brown is the organization’s university liaison for all schools of architecture in the Midwest region, and she serves as vice president of the Detroit chapter.

She was born and raised in Detroit, and earned her bachelor’s degree in architecture, a Master of Architecture and a Master of Business Administration from Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan.

Brown has worked as an architectural designer in Detroit as well as in construction management. She currently works at national architecture and engineering firm SmithGroupJJR. Brown also is an adjunct professor at Lawrence Tech’s College of Architecture and Design.

Brown raises awareness on how planning and design have a social impact in urban communities. She frequently participates in panels and seminars to examine the influence of the built environment on culture, behavior and health.

As a student-focused, land-grant, research university, we serve our citizens.
