The North Dakota Local Technical Assistance Program, a part of the Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute at NDSU, recently was awarded the Friend of NDACE Award by the North Dakota Association of County Engineers. The award is the highest award presented by the organization.

Program director Dale Heglund accepted the award at the association’s annual meeting in January. The award is presented in appreciation of support and dedication to the goals and objectives of the North Dakota Association of County Engineers.

The Local Technical Assistance Program provides information, training and technical assistance to counties and townships on highway transportation related technology and issues. In addition to Heglund, program staff include Denise Brown, training coordinator; Sandy Baisch, administrative secretary; Chris Padilla, technical training specialist; Leanna Emmer, specialist on truck size and weight issues; and Curt Glascoe, specialist on rural road maintenance, management and repair.
