NDSU redshirt junior 157-pounder and two-time NCAA Division I Wrestling Elite 90 Award winner Clay Ream has been named to the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-America Men's At-Large First Team. Selections were announced June 8.

Ream becomes the second NDSU wrestler to receive CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. Steve Anderson was named to the men’s at-large college division first team in 1986.

Ream is a native of Wentzville, Missouri, and has a 4.0 GPA in biochemistry and molecular biology. He was named the Big 12 Conference Wrestling Scholar-Athlete of the Year and made his third straight appearance on National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Academic team. He is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 Wrestling first team selection.

To qualify for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, nominees must be a starter or key reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, sophomore athletic and academic standing, and have completed at least one year at their current institution.
