Two Bison voted to Summit League Baseball Academic All-League Team

NDSU baseball student-athletes Ben Petersen and Kevin Folman were voted to The Summit League Academic All-League Team, the league office announced June 14.

Petersen is a senior business management major with a 3.35 grade-point average. He also received All-Summit League Second Team accolades and was named to The Summit League Baseball Championship All-Tournament Team. A native of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, Petersen is a three-time Summit League Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll selection and two-time Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence honoree.

Folman is a redshirt junior mathematics education major and history minor with a 3.68 grade-point average. He is a native of Hermantown, Minnesota, and was named to The Summit League Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll as a Distinguished Scholar and Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence as a sophomore.

To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30, completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions, except pitchers in baseball and softball who must have participated in 20 percent of their team's total contests. The baseball all-league team is made up of the nine student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties standing.
