Chapman to lead Conversations Across the Land

NDSU President Joseph A. Chapman and his wife, Gale, along with faculty, staff and Extension Service leaders, will travel part of the state on June 16-17 for the annual Conversations Across the Land tour.

“Since the university's founding in 1890, there has been a special relationship between NDSU and the people of North Dakota,” Chapman says. “This tour continues this great tradition. As we do these conversations, we want to visit with you, which will help us understand how to better serve the state's needs to ensure a bright future for generations to come.”

The Conversations Across the Land tour will stop at Grand Forks, Bottineau and Rugby on June 16 and Langdon on June 17. All four events are free of charge and open to the public. For adequate food preparation purposes, registrations are appreciated.

The hosts for each event consist of NDSU alumni and community leaders. These hosts help plan the event.

The tour will begin in Grand Forks at the Grand Forks County Office Building starting at 8 a.m. Coffee and rolls will be served. Contact the Grand Forks County Extension office at (701) 780-8229 or e-mail NDSU.GrandForks.Extension@ndsu.edu to register. The hosts are Milo Smith, Barry Medd and Margaret Tweten.

The second stop is Rugby for a community lunch at the Rugby Eagles Club. The lunch begins at noon. The NDSU BisonArts Singers will provide entertainment. The day's final stop is for a picnic at Minot State University - Bottineau. A social begins at 6 p.m., with dinner served starting at 6:30 p.m. To register, contact Brenda Johnson at (701) 228-5422 or e-mail forest@nd.gov. The NDSU BisonArts Singers also will entertain the audience. The hosts are Glenda Fauske, Bob and Colleen Kornkven, Tim and Connie Semler and Karla Monson.

The tour concludes with a stop at the Langdon Research Extension Center on June 17. The noon luncheon will be held in conjunction with the Langdon Research Extension Center's centennial celebration. Chapman will discuss the center's 100 years of excellence.
