Former dean to be honored

Retired professor James Sugihara’s 100th birthday will be recognized during a celebration scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 28, at 4-6 p.m. in the NDSU McGovern Alumni Center, located at 1241 N. University Drive.

Sugihara was a professor of chemistry, dean of the College of Science and Mathematics and dean of graduate studies at NDSU from 1964 to 1998. He will be presented with Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society’s inaugural PKP Distinguished Emeritus Award to honor his excellence in teaching, research and service to the NDSU community.
