Softball student-athlete named to academic team

NDSU first baseman Vanessa Anderson was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 6 Division I Softball Team announced May 9. The team is selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Anderson, a senior from Rochester, Minnesota, was named for the first time. First team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America winners will be announced June 6.

Anderson is a two-time academic all-league pick and majors in exercise science.

District 6 is comprised of student-athletes from Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at their current institution and be nominated by her sports information director.
